Hi, I am Ana, and today I will show you

What is inside

Four things that usually take four apps

Each one does its work on your computer, before the file is saved, so what you export is ready to post.

Mic

Sound like you recorded in a quiet room, from the mic you already have.

  • AI noise removal (RNNoise)
  • De-esser, EQ and compressor
  • Auto gain and a limiter
  • A 10-second mic check that tunes it all and plays you the before and after

Camera

Look lit and in focus without buying a light.

  • Automatic lighting and colour correction
  • Looks (LUTs) you can pick
  • Background blur that finds you in the frame
  • Auto-framing that keeps you centred

Record

Screen and camera in one take, in the shape the network wants.

  • Screen with a camera bubble, in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1
  • Auto-zoom that follows your clicks
  • Separate tracks saved for later editing
  • MP4 export with loudness set for social and silences trimmed

Teleprompter

Read your script while looking at the lens.

  • On the same screen as your camera, placed where you want, like under the webcam
  • Hidden from the recording
  • Scrolls at your speed
  • Follows your voice offline, in English and Spanish
Why it is free

Made by Quetzal, and yours to keep

OpenTake is made by the team behind Quetzal, an AI social media manager. Filming yourself is the part nobody else can do for you, so we made that part as easy as we could and gave it away. The code is open, you can read it, change it and keep using it whatever happens to us.

Questions about OpenTake

If yours is not here, the code and the issues are on GitHub.

View source on GitHub

Is OpenTake really free?

Yes. You download it and use it with no account, no plan and no card. It is open source under the MIT licence, so the whole code is public on GitHub.

Does it need an internet connection?

Only to download it. Recording, noise removal, the camera correction and the teleprompter that follows your voice all run on your own computer, offline.

Which operating systems does it run on?

Windows, macOS and Linux. Each release on GitHub lists the installer for each one.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your recordings are saved on your computer and stay there. OpenTake has no account and no server to send them to.

Can I use it for client work?

Yes. The MIT licence allows commercial use, so you can record videos for clients, sales pages and paid courses, and change the code if you need to.

Which languages does the teleprompter follow?

English and Spanish. It listens on your computer, without sending your voice anywhere, and scrolls the script as you read it.

Recorded it? Quetzal can take it from there
